Moonya Community Services conducted a disabiliTEA to support the campaign for the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme).
This day is part of a rolling program of events to heighten community awareness of the proposed NDIS on Tuesday 2 August at 10am, when the Every Australian Counts campaign is holding DisabiliTEA events right across Australia.
The morning tea is an opportunity for the community to get together in cities, towns and suburbs right across the nation, and demonstrate support for people with disabilities, their families and carers to finally get the support and care that they need.
The DisabiliTEA event will closely follow the handing of the Final Report of the Productivity Commission recommending the establishment of an NDIS to the Government, which is due to happen at the end of July.
It will be a great opportunity to keep spreading the word about the NDIS in the community. It will also be a great chance for you to meet with your constituents and hear why an NDIS is so desperately needed.
The NDIS isn’t just going to automatically happen. We in the disability industry are campaigning hard across the country to convince our representatives in parliament that it is the right thing to do to set up an NDIS. We would like your public support to help convince our pollies that an NDIS is the way to ensure appropriate disability services for Australia’s future.
