MOONYA COMMUNITY SERVICES – Membership
On behalf of the Board of Management I would like to extend an invitation to you to join with our wonderful organisation.
Moonya Community Services has been part of the local community for 57 years. Since 1954 the community has rallied to ensure that people with disabilities are supported. We are a proud community that fiercely protects the rights of people with disabilities that other communities can learn from.
This is a big time of change for our industry and we need your support. We are asking the community that has supported us for so long to now join with us and help us influence the politicians to ensure that they set up and National Disability Insurance Scheme. There has never been a time in the disability sector like this before and we cannot afford to miss out on this chance to improve the lives of so many deserving higher standards of care.
We would like to encourage you to take up membership of our fantastic organisation. Our aim to reach 2000 paid up members by 2014 – your membership can help us meet that target. Your membership fees would make a direct contribution in the lives of people with a disability by allowing Moonya to deliver on our mission of:
“fulfilling the aspirations for life of people with disabilities”
As a member you have the right to vote on who will be on the Board of Management (and therefore help determine how the organisation is shaped). You can also stand for election to the Board - Board positions are open to any member (except current employees). Members have the right to vote at Annual General Meetings and have a direct say in how the organisation is run.
This membership drive is about several things:
* Promoting and supporting the rights of people with a disability (especially as we move towards debating a National Disability Insurance Scheme).
* Breaking down the barriers our clients face in modern society.
* Providing an additional revenue stream so we can invest in service delivery improvements; and probably most importantly.
* Increasing the options for community access and integration activities.
What’s it cost?
Joining us as a Friend of Moonya can be done in a number of ways:
• Member – (open to individuals over 18) - $27.50.
• Associate – (open to people under 18 or pensioners) - $10.00.
Sponsors – (open to organizations).
♦ Platinum Sponsors - $5000.
♦ Gold Sponsors - $2000.
♦ Silver Sponsors - $500.
• Organisation Friends - $100 or member discounts.
What do I get for my money?
While I’m sorry to say there are no plans for cash prize members draws or discount meals to be provided to Members and Associate Members, what we do offer is:
* A members discount at our Moonya Printworkz.
* Voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
* The ability to stand for election to the Board of Management.
* The ability for you to be a contributor to the rights of people with disabilities.
